Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identified the male student`s meaning system on their adaptation experience in department of nursing where female students are in the majority,
Methods: Data were collected through the in-depth interview of 9 male student and analysed through the grounded theory methodology,
Results: The behaviors of male students for department-adaption can be summarized as a ``being uncomfortable`` with female students in department of nursing.
Conclusion: A specific strategy is needed to provide an environment that is helpful for males in integrating into and adapting to the nursing studying.
